CORONET Bay Combined Community held their final fun run/walk series under the original committee’s name before they amalgamate with the Coronet Bay Ratepayers and Residents Association to become the Coronet Bay Community Association.
The foreshore fun run welcomed over 60 runners to the town of Coronet Bay to participant in a three kilometre or five kilometre run. Runners, kids, and pets started at Fred Gration Reserve – completing a lap of the reserve before running down Ensign Court and onto Scenorama Road.
The three kilometre runners were then turned back to the finish line, with the five kilometre participants directed to continue to the five kilometre half point and along the grass Coronet Bay foreshore track.
Organiser of the annual event since 2014, Ian Cole said the official event is professional and efficient, with all committee volunteers holding a role in the management of the event.
“The timekeepers record places of each participant and marshalls are positioned on the course, as well as a medical team in case of emergency, and the Westernport Water portable water station,” said Ian.
“We welcome runners from Melbourne and local participants, whether they choose to run or walk with the family is solely up to each person, we encourage all to participate and it’s great to see so many out with their dogs and so many kids getting involved.” Ian said.
