TRAFFIC has started moving after delays of up to an hour on Phillip Island Road, inbound between the Cape Woolamai roundabout and Surf Beach after a collision near the entrance to Forrest Caves..

The crash involved a utility vechicle towing a trailer with a four-wheel motorbike onboard which allegedly collided with the side or rear of a police highway patrol car.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this stage.

The police car was loaded on to a tow truck and removed from the scene and several police units arrived to take charge of the accident scene and to get traffic moving in both directions, alternately, while the damaged vehicles could be removed.

It is not known whether anyone was injured but it doesn't appear that ambulances were called to the scene.
