ALL abilities surfing days are coming to Bass Coast Shire beaches from this month through until March, ensuring everyone can experience the joy of catching a wave.
The action is hosted by the Bass Coast branch of the Disabled Surfers Association, with organisers calling for volunteers to help run its events.
All up, the association needs about 120 of them.
Inverloch will be the scene of the action on Sunday, January 22.
Volunteer check in opens at 10am with surfer registrations from 10.30am and the first surfer will hit the water at 11am.
Volunteers not wanting to go into the water are welcome from 7am to help set up marquees and the barbecue.
Inverloch Surf Beach Carpark is reserved for mobility modified vehicles only, with volunteers requested to find available parking in nearby streets.
Change room facilities with hoists and beds are provided, along with beach wheelchairs, and wetsuits.
There will be entertainment at the surf club bar after the event, with local artist Nick Carver likely to perform.
Other all abilities surfing days will be held at Smiths Beach on February 12, Inverloch Surf Beach on March 11 and back at Smiths Beach on March 26.
Visit the Disabled Surfers Association Bass Coast Facebook page for further details.
Those wishing to surf are requested to pre-register through Eventbrite by visiting the Disabled Surfers Association of Australia website at disabledsurfers.org and choosing the ‘Bass Coast Branch’, then ‘events’.
