Shana, Ann, Justin, and Kaleena of Bass Coast Shire Council held a community consultation session at the Wonthaggi library for the council’s 2023-24 draft budget.

THE Bass Coast Shire Council are seeking community feedback on the council’s 2023-24 draft budget until Monday, May 15 and frequently asked questions from each community consultation session are available on the engage website.

Any submissions made to council will be privately viewed with the opportunity to be presented to council at a councillor briefing on May 24.

The final community consultation took place at the Wonthaggi library on Tuesday, May 9 from 1pm until 3pm with community engagement advisor Ann, in attendance with Shana from waste services and Justin and Kaleena from finance to answer any community queries before the budget is to be considered at the council meeting on June 21.

Ann confirmed that the residents that raised concerns were focused on the timeframe of certain projects, including focus on track and trails – all of which will be answered on the engaged website under Q&A.

Council confirmed that currently there is no allocation of funds to support the installation of toilets or showers at Norsemens Beach, Cornet Bay – a frequently asked question, and consideration of the installation would be considered in future budgets as the priorities change due to increased population and usage of the area.
