THE GRAND Ridge Rail Trail Fun Run again proved popular, with 97 participants choosing between three distances in the third running of the annual event, which raises funds for the Mirboo North Football Netball Club.
Runners, who came from many parts of Victoria, were supported by an enthusiastic brigade of volunteers who brought the event together and ensured it ran smoothly.
Organisers were delighted to see so many people out on the picturesque Grand Ridge Rail Trail, many of whom supported local businesses while enjoying something to eat or drink in the main street of Mirboo North after their run.
There were smiles all round and some amazing results, particularly in the 21.1km (half marathon) event which was added to the line up for the first time this year.

Darrel Cross was the first man over the line in the new event, finishing in 01:35:19, with female winner Yani Cornthwaite next to finish in a time of 01:40:04.
Ian Cornthwaite took the men’s honours in the 14km event, recording a time of 00:55:31, with Kate Lew Ton finishing in 1:05:38 to be the female winner and an impressive sixth across the line.
Nathan Giardina recorded the fastest time in the 7km run, finishing in 00:31:16, with female winner Kate Mayer next home in 00:35:00 in what was a predominantly female field.
