ALMOST 1500 campers hoping to get up close and personal at the upcoming MotoGP have had their plans thrown into disarray.
Following heavy rainfall recently, 615 campsites have been affected at the MotoGP campgrounds, meaning a number of sites are either no longer available or have been relocated due to the ground conditions.
The rainfall has meant organisers have been unable to access areas to commence the installation of infrastructure and amenities, and many areas will remain off-limits to vehicles for an extended period.
“In order to allow affected customers as much time as possible to arrange alternative options, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) has contacted those impacted and offered full refunds,” Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott said.
“We appreciate this decision is disappointing. However, our priority is to ensure fans enjoy both a safe and world-class experience.
“AGPC will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates if required.”
According to the organisation, this has affected less than half of the MotoGP campers, and the call was made to allow campers time to re-organise their accommodation or seek a full refund.
