The conclusion of the locals at the BBQ gathering was they had no problem with the owners of holiday homes, excepting for making the shops hectic!
They regard holiday house families as respectful, approachable, tidy, in good cheer etc., etc.
The holiday house owners are also great for the economy. Not only do they hire local painters, handymen, roof plumbers, landscapers, cleaners and so on – they are prompt payers! Many gardeners have permanent ongoing contracts.
Further to this is the active lifestyle of the holiday homers seen getting about in local cafes, wineries, pubs, and art studios.
The locals’ particularly love it when a holiday home has a clean out and not only puts great stuff out on the nature strip for free – they put the address up on social media. Thanks mate!
Compulsorily replacing these welcome neighbours’ with dependants’ of the government who expect everything to be handed to them without contributing? No thanks.
