THE BASS Coast – Gippsland Jobs Expo was a free event for local employers and job seekers, allowing employers and job seekers to network, apply for jobs on the day and explore upcoming employment opportunities in the region.
Landing at St Philip’s Parish Hall on Tuesday (October 18) employers and employees were treated to a fantastic event with promising outcomes.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak face to face with exhibitors and potential employees about available positions, apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways in Bass Coast and the surrounding region.
“It was a good opportunity provided by the Shire,” Paul Mannix of San Remo Fishermans Co-Op said.
“We welcome these events that can help the local business community and create a connection to the job seekers in the region.
“We found a couple of local retirees (at the expo) that are looking for extra income; they were the most common demographic that visited.”
Working alongside Jobs Victoria, Nikki from Latrobe Community Health Services was on hand to help.
“Heading out to smaller towns and bringing the employers and jobs to the people. It’s local jobs for local people.”
A second expo will be held in Wonthaggi on Thursday, November 3 at Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club from 9.30am-2.30pm.
