Young players from Auskick have developed the skills to progress to playing in the under 10s and under 12s junior footy sides at Nyora Football club.
Registrations are still open for both boys and girls to play in the junior sides at Nyora and those interested can contact Shannon on 0422 676 164.

A JUNIOR football club was established at Nyora about four years ago and it has since expanded to include an under 10 (since 2022) and under 12’s side with young players developing enough skills over the years from their Auskick days.

A strong committee and community is what coach Shannon Gallagher puts down to the success of the juniors competition.

“We’d like to think in two years’ time we’ll have an under 14’s side as well, and that they will keep progressing to go through to the Under 16’s and Under 18’s as well, and we hope to see all these kids eventually playing senior football at Nyora,” said Shannon.

Nyora have also developed an Area Agreement between the Ellinbank and District Football League and the West Gippsland Football League.

The agreement allows players to play across both leagues during the season.

This means that players can play for Hallora on a Saturday for example and play again for Nyora on a Sunday.

This gives players the opportunity to have more time on the ground, develop skills and experience rapidly and it bolsters the numbers in teams who may be short.

In February the club held a juniors registration day which saw over 70 parents and players show up.

It was a family fun day with children’s activities, entertainment and food on site to help the club gain momentum and promote their junior sides.

The Nyora juniors will also be competing in a practice match against Hallora at the Poowong Recreation Reserve on Sunday March 24 at 10am.

Registrations are still open for both boys and girls to play in the junior sides at Nyora and those interested can contact Shannon Gallagher on 0422 676 164.
