THE Leongatha Lyric Theatre presented the opening night of ‘Ladies in Black’ at the Leongatha Memorial Hall on Friday, November 11 and will showcase the production until Saturday, November 26.
The young backstage production cast comprising of assistant stage manager Pete Clarkson, stage manager Alanna Besley, property manager Kasey Stoops and lighting design, Will McCarthy, seamlessly accomplished their first show together.
Production manager Beck Stoops commended the young backstage team on their opening night acknowledging their debut off-stage roles and how well they coordinated the new production.
‘Ladies in Black’, a new production for Leongatha Lyric Theatre, cast Cecily De Gooyer as Lisa – a shy schoolgirl feeling compelled to listen to her parents Mr and Mrs Miles, played by Daniel Lawrie and Nikki Williams, despite her feeling at home in a whole other world.

Initially living in a traditional world where the women are homemakers, leaving the higher education to men, Lisa is impassioned to attend university and become a poet.
Letting go of her fears and following her dreams, Lisa is awakened to a world of possibilities at prestigious Sydney department store Goodes, where she meets Magda played by Rhonda Melhuish and Stefan played by Bruce Grainger.
