LEONGATHA’S polished third-term delivery to its forwards and their equally accurate goal kicking during that period complemented the elite pressure the side was already delivering, setting up a 10-goal lead over Drouin and earning high praise from coach Trent McMicking.

“That’s our best quarter of footy for the year,” he declared at the huddle.

The Parrots finished 65-point winners, with Jenson Garnham booting eight goals, including a swag of third quarter majors.

Jackson Harry was another providing spark for the Parrots, providing a powerful marking target. He pulled in some strong contested grabs and continues to impress with his overhead marking ability and willingness to work hard and cover plenty of ground.

While Harry finished with three goals, he was instrumental in at least a couple of Garnham’s, including one from a composed and unselfish pass during the third term, and was deservedly named the winner’s best.

The consistent Jack Hume again created numerous opportunities for teammates with his purposeful play and put the icing on the cake with a couple of goals, while the ginger-headed Luke Bowman worked industriously in the clinches to win contested footy and distributed it with aplomb.

The Parrots’ backline again gelled superbly, applying fierce pressure to the Hawks when they were able to advance into their forward line.

Nasty facial injuries to Aaron Turton’s eye socket, cheekbone and nose, and Jarrod Stewart hurting his ankle, were the unfortunate moments in what was largely a great day for the Parrots. Stewart has slotted into the side well since earning his spot through the Reserves, and has lightened the ruck load for Ben Willis.

William Papley was named Drouin’s best, booting a couple of goals, including Drouin’s first major of the game.
