THE Clean Up Australia Day initiative provides a great opportunity for locals to get involved in their local community and take care on their environment.

I want to thank those who were involved in local clean-up initiatives including the one that took place at Venus Bay Beach One.

While the official Clean Up Australia Day was held Sunday, March 3, events will be taking place all through March and can be led by local community groups, schools and even individuals who are willing to organise a clean-up site.

I understand that Poowong Consolidated School will be hosting an event to clean-up the Poowong CBD on Wednesday, March 6.

To join this or another local clean-up event (or even register your own) visit cleanup.org.au. Those who register will be sent a “clean up kit” to assist with the running of their event. There are also T-Shirts available for those who want to look the part.

As your local Member of Parliament, it brings me great pride to see members of our community showing initiative and making a difference in such a way.

Thank you to everyone who is hosting or taking part in helping to care for our environment and keeping our home beautiful.

Danny O’Brien MP, The Nationals State Member for Gippsland South, Shadow Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Shadow Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation
