Overturn the retrospective Wonthaggi Environmental Audit Overlay

According to the Bass Coast Planning Scheme Amendment C152basc, prepared by the Minister of Planning, one of the aims of this amendment to the North East Wonthaggi Precinct Structure Plan was to “provide for the fair, orderly, economic and sustainable use of the land”. It also stated that it would “create greater housing choice, diversity and affordable places to live”. It is clear now that this

Precinct Structure plan contained empty falsified statements that have failed this community.

In an announcement made by the Victorian Planning Minister and the Bass Coast CEO Greg Box last week, affected landowners, and all rate payers of the Bass Coast Shire Council, will now be footing the bill for half of the costly and unnecessary assessments required to address this retrospective overlay. A double punishment on this community.

Will the Victorian Labour Party match the promise made to the community of Wonthaggi last Sunday by the Opposition leader John Pescutto, to immediately remove this unjust overlay?
