THE assurance by Bass Coast council that Berninneit will meet the strict Passivhaus environmental certification standards, is not worth a pinch of salt.

We only must look at promises made by council and councillors.

• in 2016 mayor Pamela Rothfield statement a pool for Phillip Island was a priority.

• 2021 mayor Michael Whelan cost of new Cowes Cultural Centre $22 million?

• 2023 comment by mayor Claire Le Serve on the abandonment of the Sunderland Bay and Surf Beach Special Charge Scheme move to the next priority?

The assurances given by council and councillors are all porkies.

I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is if Berninneit achieves Passivhaus certification I will donate one hundred dollars ($100) to a Philip Island charity nominated by the mayor.

Are any of the Bass Coast councillors up to the challenge to donate one hundred dollars ($100) if the next test fails?
