Phillip Island Boardriders Club season takes off

WITH the roar from the MotoGP in the background and a serious chill in the air, Phillip Island Boardriders Club began their 2023/2024 Season with a bang on Saturday October 21.

An incredible 76 Supergroms and their families braved the cold at Smiths Beach. There were lots of new faces, lots of improvement from returning Supergroms, and bucketloads of good vibes. 

The team spirit was also strong over at Cape Woolamai, where PIBC’s first Aggregate Comp of the Season kicked off.

In Club Captain, Ash Easton’s absence, the PIBC committee were stoked with the awesome leadership shown by Andy McHenry, Carl Wright and Harry de Roth who all stepped up and ran the competition. 

The whole team was primed to do well and absolutely smashed it. There was lots of great surfing talent coming through all divisions.

Each competitor also chipped in to help the day run smoothly, showing off their judging skills and scoring heats for their teammates.

Both events wrapped up at the clubrooms in typical PIBC style, with a BBQ, raffle, a few drinks, and awards. 

Everyone chipped in which saw the event run smoothly and the whole club celebrated together for the first time this season.

The next Aggregate Competition and Supergroms Event will be held on November 25, 2023, but stay tuned for the first Longboard Comp on Saturday October 28.
