Ram raids across Bass Coast
JANUARY 15 – Police are investigating three burglaries at businesses in Bass Coast.
It’s believed approximately 10 offenders have attempted to force entry to IGA in Wonthaggi about 2am, but were disturbed by a passer-by.
The offenders have then travelled in two vehicles to IGA on Marine Parade in San Remo where a vehicle was used to gain entry to the store.
The offenders then travelled to IGA on Thompson Avenue in Cowes and another ram raid was conducted.
The vehicles are described as a white Mercedes and a silver Subaru and are believed to be stolen.
The Subaru was also involved in a petrol drive off at Ampol Bass around 3.22am.
The Mercedes was located dumped in Springvale on Sunday night.
No arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation is ongoing.
Late night dip
JANUARY 14 – A female entered the pool at Park Lane Holiday Park in Wonthaggi at 1.45am.
Shortly after other parties unknown to the female entered the pool area, where a conversation took place between the female and a male.
The male became aggressive and punched the female victim causing her tooth to become loose.
A relative came to the victim’s aid but was also struck by the male offender.
The offender was located and interviewed at Wonthaggi Police Station for recklessly causing injury and released pending inquiries.
Altercation over alcohol
JANUARY 13 – Two males were waiting outside North Pier in Cowes for their friend when they were approached by two male offenders. An altercation followed over an alcoholic beverage with the offender producing a 20cm long knife and lacerating the victim when he reached for his drink back.
The male victims removed themselves from the situation and were collected by a friend thereafter.
Investigations are ongoing at Cowes Police Station (5952 2037).
Police targeting quarries
JANUARY 12 – MULTIPLE vehicles and motorbikes gained entry between midnight and 10am to Pitsburgh Sand and Gravel Grantville where they proceeded to use an excavator to build a ramp allowing access to Holcim Quarry next door.
Whilst nil damage was caused to the excavator, Police are targeting areas around quarries due to ongoing issues.
San Remo Police Station (5678 5500) are investigating the incidence.
Juvenile assaults at Guide Park
JANUARY 11 – A male juvenile victim was approached by two males and four females at the Guide Park, Wonthaggi at 1pm.
The victim and his friends got up to leave and winked at the male offender. The offender has thrown a right hook and hit the victim on the left side of his head.
The parties are unknown to each other, and the investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses should contact Wonthaggi Police Station (5671 4100).
Attempted burglaries in Inverloch
JANUARY 10 – An intruder was caught attempting to break into a private shed along The Crescent at 3.35am.
JANUARY 8-9 – There was no luck for burglars at Southern Bazaar on Cashin Street with offenders unable to gain access after trying to break into several doors.
Police are urging property owners to be vigilant, and ensure their belongings are appropriately secured to deter would-be thieves.
Investigations are ongoing through Inverloch Police Station 5674 1202.
