AS A regular visitor to the Bass Coast house of stoush last Wednesday, June 19 monthly meeting of the Bass Coast council, viewers watching this live stream missed the in-house action not shown on live streaming, the man in the red corner.

Bout 8.5 the Environment Fund had two contestants both with the same Christian names, in the green corner for the council was the present title holder for everything green, including money and chairperson for the South Eastern Council Climate Change Alliance for five years. In the gallery corner, the other contestant silently stood up during this bout holding a red placard calling for a fund for a more worthwhile cause “WHAT ABOUT AN AQUATIC FUND”. The green combatant for the council was in fine form, even when one of the referees called for a foul, his well-known bullish stanch prevailed and he would not withdraw his foul punch.

The outcome of the bout green 9 red 0 although one referee spoke against the decision, he voted in favour, was the bullish behaviour of the council green combatant an influence on the referee’s decision?

Not a denier of climate change, I believe the effort of council staff and councillors would be more beneficial to establish a pool fund for the health and wellbeing of the ratepayers.

The question is who was the person in the red corner peacefully throwing punches? Clues Cr Laticia Laing did mention his profession in her comments on this matter, and the other clue, the pen is mightier than the sword.

Who was the person in the red corner?
