School's plea heard with $6.7m promise
Students have been campaigning alongside School Council for months – telling their personal stories in the hope of better facilities for future generations.

A RE-ELECTED Labor Government is promising to deliver a massive upgrade to Wonthaggi Primary School with a $6.7 million investment.

Wonthaggi Primary School Council have been campaigning for months to be heard at a state level, with incredible support locally, and their cries for help have today not gone unnoticed.

“Thank you to those who have supported us,” Wonthaggi Primary School Council President, Caroline Moore said.

“Our school community, our school councillors, Wendy and her team – the support has been really good.

“We are excited to see the future of Wonthaggi Primary School being taken seriously, ensuring the facilities our future generations deserve.”

Wonthaggi Primary School Council are ensuring no child is left behind, in their appeal for $20million to create connected spaces, and cope with the ever-increasing influx of students. 

The master plan is not only about upgrading the facilities and bringing them in line with other schools, but also 
addressing safety concerns and continuing to provide a first-rate education and high-quality learning spaces for kids to grow.

“With the second and third stages of the hospital being built and funded, now we are going to be able to create and grow our own specialists, medical professionals, doctors and nurses and all those who are going to staff and work at the amazing hospital.

“It’s a great thing for our whole Wonthaggi community.

“Wonthaggi Primary School’s history and character of the school and the mining days are not going to get lost, it’s still there and it’s going to be better; and it’s exciting.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale was delighted to be delivering on Labor’s commitment to build 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 already funded or opened and more than 1,850 upgrades delivered to schools since coming to government. 

“As a mum, I know how important it is for every kid to have every chance to reach their full potential,” Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said.

“Our teachers and school support staff are truly amazing, and along with their students deserve quality modern classrooms and learning environments – a re-elected Labor Government will do just that and deliver a big upgrade to Wonthaggi Primary School.”

Fellow parent and Liberal candidate for Bass, Aaron Brown, was also thrilled after helping campaign for Wonthaggi Primary School in recent months.

“The coalition will be making an exciting announcement regarding Wonthaggi Primary School within days.”

The Nationals candidate for Bass, Brett Tessari, also a father himself was overjoyed.

“I am rapt by the media attention we have helped bring to Wonthaggi Primary School,” Brett said.

“It’s well overdue and stay tuned…”

The School’s Master Plan is split into three stages – the first ($7 million) for the demolition of the wooden quadrangle allowing for the new STEM teaching spaces, library and classrooms; the second stage ($6 million) for the purpose-built administration building freeing up more classrooms; and the third stage ($7 million) for the sporting precinct.
