INVERLOCH-KONGWAK flexed its muscle with a comfortable win over the Warragul Industrials on Saturday.
The Sea Eagles travelled to the Dusties’ home ground, with the Dusties providing good conditions for footy – overcast with no wind.
Although the scoreboard didn’t reflect it, there was a close struggle for power in the first half.
However, Inverloch-Kongwak’s strong four quarter performance allowed it to run away with the points.
The Dusties ran out of the gate ready for a contest in the first quarter.
The home side kept the ball off the Sea Eagles for much of the opening term, owning a lot of the clearances and possessions.
Inverloch-Kongwak kicked into gear and was lucky to put two goals on the board before the first siren, putting it just in front of the Dusties going into quarter time.
Sea Eagles coach Tom Hams reminded his team that the clubs they face will want to push them to play differently, and they needed to lift to get the game back on their terms.
This was the right message, as a new-look Sea Eagles took over in the second quarter.
Marcus Toussaint set the tone in the ruck and won a lot of contests in the middle.
Nick Baltas also gave a solid performance, kicking seven goals for the game.
Baltas had 13 shots at goal and was rewarded for his efforts.








Heading into half time, the Sea Eagles were 28 points ahead.
The Dusties recuperated at the beginning of the third quarter, which was anticipated by the Sea Eagles.
Toussaint continued to step it up in the ruck, and Oscar Toussaint also turned it on for the second half, adding three goals out of the middle to the tally.
Taite Cumming and Clint McCaughan had a strong game up forward.
McCaughan generally dominates in the ruck but was moved forward and kicked a couple of goals for the day.
This match also saw new recruit Luke Johnson play his first game for Inverloch-Kongwak, and he proved he will be an asset for the team this season.
With one quarter to go, Inverloch-Kongwak had widened the margin to 36 points.
Inverloch-Kongwak proved it still had plenty left in the tank with a stellar fourth quarter.
Adding eight goals before the final siren, Inverloch-Kongwak secured a 70-point win.
Hams said the club was happy with the result and the even team performance presented on the day.
Inverloch-Kongwak will face Koo Wee Rup at home this weekend.
Koo Wee Rup have picked up a number of new players this season, so the Sea Eagles are going into the match with no expectations but looking forward to the clash.
