SOUTH Gippsland Golf Association held their 2022 championship on Sunday, September 11, where 40 players played in blustery cold conditions, at the Leongatha golf club for the south Gippsland men’s and junior championships.
Chair of match Geoff Cohen said the course was in good condition considering the recent heavy rain in the Leongatha region over past few weeks, and all players were appreciative of the day and the course.
“The field consisted of some of the finest golfers in South Gippsland and it is a congratulations to all golfers who played and made this day a success,” said Geoff.
“This event hasn’t been played for last two years due to pandemic regulations, so it was nice to see the players back competing again. We would like to thank our sponsors of this event and sponsors of our country week teams.”
Sponsors included AG Warehouse, Haymes Paints and Drummond Golf, and a special thank you to the staff and team at Leongatha Golf Club for making the day run smoothly.

• A Grade runner up Michael Thomas 76 on a count back from Bart McDonald 76.
• A grade Nett winner Steve Bromby net 66.
• A grade nett winner Mathew Wrigley net 72.
• B Grade Gross winner: Peter Draper 82, won in a sudden death play off.
• B grade gross Runner up Ryan McKnight 82
• B grade Net winner: Peter Draper - 69
• B grade net runner up Rod Mckenzie 70
• C grade stableford winner John Belli 32 points
• C grade Stableford runner up Graham Fitton 30 points.
• Junior Champion - Bilie Wrigley - 23 points
• Runner up Junior Thomas Simon 8 points.
