IT was a great day of racing at GSI 7 Warragul on Sunday, November 17, with 40 South Gippsland Bass (SGB) swimmers competing in the outdoor pool under brilliant sunshine.
Plenty of smiles from swimmers as they adjusted to the outdoors, with great times coming through and plenty of personal bests (PBs). There was great excitement in some of the 50m events as swimmers used their last chance to snag a race at State Sprints in two weeks.
For many of the new swimmers, racing outdoors was a whole new experience, especially as some of the clubs only train indoors, but they overcame the challenges of wind, clouds, sun and the ducks to enjoy themselves.
It was like a mini reunion with several of the more senior SGB Swimmers returning to racing after time off for travel, work and study. The swimmers are excited to race in several events in the coming months.
Thank you, Gippsland Swimming officials, volunteers and Warragul Swimming Club for a fantastic swim meet.
Next weekend, racing returns indoors to Traralgon for GSI 8 for the final indoor meet of the year.
