TO CELEBRATE the end of the footy season, the club held a pre-grand final fun day of play on September 24.
The event included a barbecue lunch.
Most attending members came in some manner of footy colours of the club they support with one even sporting a Dutch soccer shirt. What does he know?
This wrapped up September with more on the way in the coming months.
Lakes Entrance held its Doubles Handicap tournament on the weekend of October 4 and 5, which had four Wonthaggi members competing and two more who travelled all the way on the Saturday to show their support.
In Section 1, Neil Warburton teaming up with Tom Lacey, finished runners-up, being beaten only on hoop difference, five games +5 as opposed to five games +17.
Also in Section 1, Marj Prendergast partnered Jan Norwood from Bairnsdale and finished with three wins.
Sue Priller partnered with Robin McKinnon from Leongatha in Section 2 and they also finished runners-up winning five games with the successful pair from Orbost taking out the prize by winning all of their seven games.
Well played all.
The fourth week of the pennant season has just been finalised, and the table sees Drouin on top with three wins and one loss and Wonthaggi second from the bottom.
With Leongatha home games not yet recorded – some computer hitch – it may mean Wonthaggi will be relegated to last. With one lot of matches to go in this round and then the return matches, Wonthaggi will surely rally.
