THE Wonthaggi Croquet hosted members of the Wonthaggi branch of the RSL for a hit and barbecue last Sunday, February 25.
This is part of the RSL Active initiative.
The weather was perfect, and a great time was had by all.
One family unit took part with the two children really getting into the action.
Tuesday, February 27, saw six pairs vie for the Memorial Shield.
Conditions were rather hot but by lunchtime, the usual barbecue, all games had been played deciding the two pairs to play off in the final after lunch.
A very tight struggle, lasting 90 minutes, had Sue Baker and Tom Lacey pip Marjorie Prendergast and Michael Barber seven hoops to six.
Well played and thanks to all the competitors on the day.
A special thanks to, in the absence of the regular barbecue chef, goes to Bert Orr for his work on the Sunday and John Cartwright (Big John from Southcoast FM) on the Tuesday.
Remember, the club days are Monday 4pm till late, and Wednesday and Saturday from 10am.
