Title still alive as WorldSBK riders head to Phillip Island

PHILLIP Island World Superbike’s favourite, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki), is now out of the running for the WorldSBK title, slipping further behind the two leading riders Alvaro Bautista (Ducati) and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha) ahead of the final round at the Island.

But that doesn’t mean he is out of contention to win his home-away-from home races when the WorldSBK have their finale at the famous track later this week from November 18 to 20.

Rea was right in contention in last weekend’s racing in Indonesia, adding to his incredible record for podium finishes, but he slipped ever-so-slightly back from Bautista on top and the inform Razgatlioglu, to stay third, a place he can’t be dislodged from.

Honda rider Iker Lecuona will miss this week's final round of the season at Phillip Island following the crash that has ruled him out of last weekend's Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit round.

But all of the other riders will be there, starting to arrive on Monday and Tuesday, ahead of practice on Thursday and Friday and racing on Saturday and Sunday.
