A request was put forward at the recent Council Meeting from the LGBTQI+ community wanting their group’s interests to have a formal voice to Council.
It is not Council’s job to represent or advocate for any minority group.
It is their job to responsibly manage the budget by putting money back into the necessary infrastructure and services that benefit the community as a whole.
If Council starts pandering to the wishes and perceived rights of minority groups, where do they draw the line in regards to how many minority groups they choose to give a voice to?
It’s time for the woke left sympathisers to wake up to the reality of majority rule. Regardless of our gender, race or religion the fact remains, we are all citizens of this country, and we must all abide by the same laws and rules that apply to everyone else.
Giving minority groups special treatment or special consideration is in fact divisive and discriminatory. Who gets to decide which minority groups are to be cherry picked for special treatment and is it the job of Council to make such decisions. I think not.
We are very lucky to live in a democratic country that recognises the freedoms and rights of every individual and not just the rights of the vociferous minorities.
