MILD weather and softer going thanks to last week’s rain set the stage for the second of the West Gippsland Zone’s Show Jumping competition hosted by Wonthaggi Pony Club (WPC).

Large groups of families and friends attended to enjoy the exciting spectator sport, where almost 100 riders competed in two rounds and two phase show jumping competitions across the arenas.

Local clubs attended as well as clubs from outer Melbourne.

Many members and in particular Wonthaggi riders, stepped up and helped to run a successful day.

The Club are proud of the members’ commitment to their horses in preparing for competitions and the manner in which they conducted themselves in public.

The Club has friendly, supportive, and resilient kids sharing their passion with horses and with each other.

WPC would like to thank Ian Chalmers, course designer and builder.

Ian continues to be a fantastic support to the club and provides invaluable insights to the riders, as they learn the specialties of show jumping.

Senior member, Lucy Phipps was also a jump judge who is always very generous with her time and a great role model for the younger members.

Pony Club offers wonderful opportunities for local youth to get involved and learn many skills, including non-horse related skills such as time management, organisation, public speaking and more.

WPC would like to also thank their ongoing sponsors, The Wonthaggi Club, whose support and commitment is valued.

A new sign has also been put up in recognition of support from Ag Warehouse, Wonthaggi and WPC would also like to thank their official photographer, Taylah Clarke Photography.

WPC are also seeking more sponsorship to help improve the grounds and make them more accessible for all abilities.
