How to grow multispecies pastures in South Gippsland

SOUTH Gippsland Landcare Network (SGLN), along with Jade Killoran from Healthy Farming Systems, will be delivering a short online introduction to multispecies pastures.

It will be run online over Zoom over two sessions – Tuesday, February 8 and Tuesday, February 15, from 10am-12pm each day.

Participants are encouraged to attend both sessions, but if you can’t make it to one of them don’t worry - it will be recorded so you won’t miss out.

The first session will look at what, when and why for multispecies forages (including what feed gap to cover), sourcing seed and paddock preparation, and plant role and function. The second session will cover how to identify common multispecies, fertiliser and grazing basics for multispecies crops, tools for monitoring, and how to plan your own multispecies pastures.
Speaker Jade Killoran is a cover cropping researcher and specialist with 10 years of experience in the Victorian high rainfall zone.

She is extremely passionate about multispecies pastures and helps farmers trial, adopt, and manage multispecies cover crops on-farm.

The link to join the sessions will be sent after registration.

To register for these free sessions, go to https://multispeciessouthgippsland.eventbrite.com.au.

For more information contact Cassie, cassie@sgln.net.au or 0448 739 559.

These sessions are being run through SGLN’s Enhancing Soil Biology project.

This project is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
