KORUMBURRA-Wonthaggi Road was temporarily closed in both directions near the corner of Lynnes Road, St Clair this evening due to a car and scrub fire.
It's understood an abandoned car in the bushes was set alight at roughly 8pm with neighbours describing an explosive noise as tyres engulfed and airbags exploded.
According to nearby residents and locals who drive along Korumburra-Wonthaggi Road, the vehicle has sat abandoned for over 6 weeks.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and anyone with information is urged to call Wonthaggi Police Station on 5671 4100 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
