NYORA travelled to Longwarry believing both reserves and seniors could come home with a win and the reserves displayed some good patches of football winning comfortably by over 6 goals.
They showed what can be achieved with a bit of self-belief and disciplined footy and if only that was present from the start of the season, they could easily be playing finals.
Well done by coach Josh Browne playing a great game kicking five goals and Stanton kicking three.
Other stand outs were Shaun Lamb, Andrew Dike, Lucas Lee and Brad Welsh in what was a great team effort.
Seniors:
We absolutely dominated the opening 10 minutes of play, but failed to register a major until Scotty Pugh put through his first of the day at the 12 minute mark and quickly followed with his second. We squandered opportunity after opportunity with a few behinds and a lot of out on the full while Longwarry made the most of their forward thrusts kicking majors.
Same happened in the second quarter with Nyora having all the play for the first half but failing to kick a major while Longwarry kicked truly, with four goals to take a handy lead into half time.
The third quarter started on a positive note with a goal in the first minute but became a slog after that with a very even quarter.
But even though we won the last quarter with five goals to three, we still went down by four goals.
There was a lot of positives to take out of the game, especially the way some of the dynamic smaller brigade like Jack Rosenow and Rhys Grange-Lylak played.
Other stand outs were the ever reliable Dylan Heylen, Connor Thompson, Max Mattock, Ben Parrott and Finlay Cousins.
We simply have to learn to make the most of opportunities up forward and don’t drop our bundle when the opposition turns it on.
Next Saturday we play away again, Lang Lang on their turf but with a bit of self belief both reserves and seniors could easily create an upset.
