Bass Coast meeting 'virtual' over COVID concerns
The fact that COVID-19 is back on the march through schools and business is evidenced by the decision by the Bass Coast Shire Council to revert to 'virtual' meetings for the July and August council meetings.

DON’T go to the Bass Coast Shire Council meeting today, Wednesday, July 20 at 1pm.

The council has issued a notice that the meeting has been changed to an all “virtual” affair.

There will be no in-person meeting for ratepayers and residents to attend today.

Here is the council’s statement:

“Due to the health advice regarding the current COVID situation, we have made the decision to go virtual for our July and August Council Meetings.

“But don’t worry, you won’t miss out! You can tune in live to the meeting at http://www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/2022meetings, or catch up with the recording at any time after the meeting, using the same link.”

Question time will still go ahead at the beginning of the meeting as usual after it was supported by council as a “must” for every council meeting in the shire’s new governance rules to go up for approval today.

Grants session cancelled

Unfortunately, the Community Grants drop-in session scheduled by Bass Coast Shire Council for today (Wednesday, 20 July) at the Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre in Newhaven has also been cancelled.

Again it relates to staff being away due to COVID protocols and also about concern around COVID in the community. Take care. Practice social distancing and consider wearing masks in sensitive and confined spaces.

For more information on our Community Grants Program, visit http://www.basscoast.vic.gov.au.au/grants or contact our Grants Officer on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.
