Best Small Health Service in Victoria for South Gippsland

LAST night, at the Public Healthcare Awards, South Gippsland Hospital was awarded the Premiers Small Health Service of the Year, for 2023. They were finalists in the same category last year.

South Gippsland Hospital (SGH), located in Foster, serves the Corner Inlet Communities by providing high quality and safe acute and community care. With a keen focus on partnerships, safety, workforce capability, and community engagement, SGH provides high quality healthcare services in a hospital setting, two community centres, and in people’s homes.

Recognised for a positive workplace culture, SGH is known to have consistently strong ratings in both employee and patient satisfaction surveys. Additionally, SGH is known to promote diversity and inclusion, and collaborate with various organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the community. CEO Paul Greenhalgh acknowledged the award in an email to the team this morning.

“This award is the most prestigious award a health service can receive in Victoria, and it acknowledges you, the most amazing, dedicated team of staff and volunteers, who care for the community so beautifully. Congratulations, this award recognises all your hard work and effort over many years, but especially the last 12 months.”

He also highlighted that there was broad support for the health service, that ensures successful outcomes for patients and clients.

“We are fortunate to have an enormous circle of support, giving us the energy and drive to do our best in our day-to-day work. Our funders, including the State and Commonwealth Governments; our fundraisers, like the SGH Auxiliary, South Gippsland Community Health Foundation and Murray to Moyne crew; our partners, like Foster Medical Centre, South Gippsland Radiology and surrounding health services, the Board and especially our community.”
