THE Breakers welcomed Karingal to Dalyston for a twilight match.

Recent good form from the Breakers didn’t worry the visitors who were first to hit the scoreboard, with a goal in the first two minutes.

The Breakers welcomed back Tayla Stahl who didn’t take long to get involved - hitting up Immy Bradford to give the Breakers their first goal.

The first quarter was a tight contest.

Tackle pressure from the Breakers was great with Carly Heislers and Georgia Sharp doing a good job to shut the ball down on the wings and slow down Karingal’s run.

The Breakers had a better start to the second quarter with Stahl kicking her first goal in the opening minutes while Kate Thompson was busy through the middle and hard to beat around the stoppages.

The home side kept attacking throughout the quarter and while Karingal were able to rush a few of their attempts, Sophie Bolding kicked a nice goal on the run to give the Breakers a handy half time buffer.

Half time: Breakers 3.3-21 to Karingal 1.1-7.

Getting on top in the third quarter the Breakers created a number of scoring opportunities through great forward movement with Stahl adding 2 goals to her tally.

The backline held strong with Stacey Poke and Jac Van Rooy cutting off any advances at half back.

Karingal came out firing in the last quarter and found an open player in the goal square to give them their second goal and a bit of hope. However, the Breakers tightened up, slowed the ball down and played with more control.

Poppy Marshall provided some spark in the forward line along with Immy Bradford whose hard running was rewarded with her second goal.

Final score: Breakers 6.9-45 def Karingal 2.3-15

Best: K. Thompson, I. Bradford, T. Angarane, K. O’Neill, T. Stahl, J. Van Rooy

Goals: T. Stahl 3, I. Bradford 2, S. Bolding

The Breakers will enjoy a week off before hosting Mornington on Sunday, June 18, 11am with the Dalyston youth girls match to follow.
