PHILLIP Island welcomed Korumburra to Reece Plumbing Park for a huge pre-finals top four clash and the visitors wont the toss and chose to bat first.
After struggling to find many contributors out of their top order, the Cobras innings was accelerated by Mathew Olden (47* from 70) and his captain Tim Morrison (26 from 32) at number six and seven.
The pairs 41-run stand saw the visitors finish 7/142 after Aaron Brayley (2/6 from 7) led the Island attack well.
In reply, the Sharks innings was almost the complete opposite, with the bulk of their runs coming from Gavin Excell (30 from 41) and Brayley (26 from 43) who batted in their top order.
Unfortunately, though, they found next to nothing from their middle and lower order and slumped to 10/110.
Patrick Beadel (2/18 from 7) led the way for ‘Burra in the 32-run win, while Aaron Knight (2/0 from 0.3) finished it off.
The two sides will now have the weekend off as they prepare for their respective Semi Finals the following weekend.
Koony too good as Cary takes five
KOONWARRA L/RSL welcomed Wonthaggi down the road to the Koonwarra Recreation Reserve and the visitors won the toss and sent the hosts in to bat first.
The Cougars came out strong, as their top order all found some runs, but none of them were able to go on with them, Harry Scrimshaw (40 from 44) and Alex Stanley (35 from 49) the best on the day.
The hosts finished up with a strong first innings score of 8/197 after Darren Beaumont (3/12 from 2) gave his best efforts with the ball for Club.
In the second innings, it just was not Wonthaggi’s day, as the Koony attack took over bowling them out for 48, with Aiden Quilty’s nine the top score.
Brodie Cary (5/12 from 7) led the charge with the ball in the Cougars’ 149-run win.
The loss unfortunately spells the end of the Wonny’ season, while the win builds confidence in the Koony’ side who will take this weekend off before they compete for glory in the finals.

Host OMK overpowers Kilcunda Bass
VISITOR Kilcunda Bass elected to bat at Digger Park, making a strong start before Outtrim Moyarra Kongwak’s bowlers hit back hard.
Sharks skipper Ashley Joseph (28) and Steven Oates put on 57 for the first wicket, with the latter going on to make 76.
However, the rest of the Kilcunda Bass batting lineup was unable to get going, with Luke May’s eight runs the next biggest contribution.
OMK used eight bowlers, with almost all performing strongly.
Leon Holderhead (2/28), Jordan Myors (2/9) and Matthew Whiteside (2/0) were the multiple wicket takers.
A commanding opening partnership set the Diggers on the path to victory, wiping off a large portion of the 130 runs required.
Andrew Sorensen finished unbeaten on 68, with Holderhead completing a powerful allround performance with 38.
Ashley Joseph (1/16) and Cruz Bettles (1/2) were the successful bowlers for the outgunned Sharks.

Donohue ton guides
Glen Alvie past Cougars
A scintillating century from Matthew Donohue led Glen Alvie to a stunning eight-wicket win over Koonawarra Leongatha RSL at the Leongatha Velodrome.
He remained unbeaten on 122, scored off just 89 balls, including 18 boundaries and a six.
His was the second not out ton recorded in the match, with Cougars skipper Glenn Matthies belting 112 off just 72 balls, highlighted by a stunning nine sixes and five boundaries.
Kylie Collins’ 61 helped Koonwarra Leongatha RSL set Glen Alvie what appeared an imposing 231 run target, requiring a rate of 6.6 per over.
Donohue was well supported in setting the platform for a successful chase by Jack Brown who made 66 at a good rate.
On a day when willow dominated leather, no bowler in the game managed more than a single wicket.
Wayne Bridle’s 1/23 from six overs was the bowling highlight for Glen Alvie, with Matthies’ 1/11 from three overs best for the defeated Cougars.
