MORALE around the Dalyston Football Netball Club lifted significantly after each of their four football teams saluted with wins against Korumburra-Bena in round 3.

After a testing few seasons, real signs of improvement are beginning to show as the senior team posted a resounding victory in fine conditions on their home deck.

Highlighting the performance, Blake Carew bagged nine, kicking multiple goals each quarter.

Along with Mason Storr (5 goals) and Hayden Wallis (4 goals), the Magpies had a three-pronged attack that proved too potent for the rebuilding Giants.

Dalyston’s ability to extract the ball from the centre allowed quick delivery into their forward 50 to benefit their leading key position players.

The first term was a free-wheeling affair with both teams up for the contest.

Mason Storr capped off the good early work of Smith and Wallis to post the first major.

The Giants answered with Jay Walker lacing one out to the leading Kodie Walker who didn’t disappoint with his set shot from 40m out.

By quarter time 10 goals had been scored, Dalyston held the lead by 25 points.

Hayden Wallis headlined the start of the second with two early goals. Both strong grabs on the straight lead.

Kodie Walker lifted Giants’ spirits with a sensational dribbling effort from deep in the pocket but goals to Carew and Storr kept the Magpie’s scoreline ticking.

The Giants added the next two through Sewell and MacDonald but three goals in red time gave Dalyston a firm hold on the game at the long break.

What the Giants lack in experience is countered by their enthusiasm to compete and at no point did they throw in the towel.

In fact, they won the third quarter, outscoring Dalyston four goals to three. Their playing coach Paul Fermanis was pivotal in this period, he initiated several forays from centre half forward and kicked two himself.

The Magpies cleaned up their act and Blake Carew put the game to bed with three consecutive goals from the restart.

The final term saw the Pies stretch their lead and build momentum to take into their next game against Bunyip. Korumburra-Bena are on the road again with a visit to Warragul to test themselves against the Dusties.
