BOUQUETS to the Bass Coast Shire Council staff who were responsible for the recent edging of the nature strips throughout Inverloch and subsequent cleanup.

The job was well overdue but welcome and the result presents the streetscapes in a much more respectable manner.

However, at the same time, the shire deserves ‘brickbats’, for allegedly sending, or allowing staff to prowl the car parks of Inverloch last Sunday, with perhaps a view to ticketing vehicles which have allegedly overstayed their allotted time at a given space.

This is at a time when the town is hosting visitors to their annual Jazz Festival, an event which is designed to attract folk from outside the region to enjoy, apart from the jazz, what else our shire has to offer. It wasn’t as though parking was at a premium, with many vacant spaces available.

Should this be true, then I believe it to be very poor form and if the shire is that strapped for cash that it needs to embark on such an endeavour, then perhaps it should cut back on some of the many unnecessary spending excesses that are generally outside of its core business responsibilities of roads, rates and rubbish!
