IN RECENT months I was fortunate in having an article printed in this paper by the editor. One reader took the time to respond to my concerns about the integrity of some Councillors, and I now thank that person.
Last year I moved from the Inverloch area to North Wonthaggi and have found myself to be in another Ward. Upon advice from the editor of this paper and the above reader, I contacted a current sitting councillor who is standing for re-election in November. I sent a very long email to this Councillor and the response I received was extremely prompt, with honest and detailed answers to all my questions. This paper advised readers with concerns on who to vote for in the coming November election, to contact sitting members who are standing for re-election, ask them what they have done and will do if re-elected.
I am now able to understand why very little was mentioned by councillors regarding the recent EOA, and that our mayor, had the authority to make public statements, but chose not to do so and other councillors were under a gag by Council Governance rules. I will offer my apologies to the few Councillors who I may have wrongly offended.
I strongly advise all rate payers who have concerns of who to vote for to follow the path I undertook and to follow the advice given by other readers and this paper. Initially this person was not included on my list of who to vote for. Now they will be Number 1 on my list, and I will follow the printed preferences on the voting pamphlet.
