RECENTLY Dilene Hinton has sent letters re: dogs and I totally agree with her re: obeying rules and the horror of taking them to fireworks.

However, why are dogs and cats so different from the effects on local birds and wildlife. Many pet owners stay home to try to pacify their pets, but wildlife would be terrified too. I know of one flock of roosting parrots that took off when fireworks started.

A light show would disturb some wildlife too but to a lesser extent than the noise of fireworks. It would also be more environmentally friendly, less wasteful, recyclable and a lot less expensive.

I say do not let fireworks continue.
