The placegetters in the inaugural All-Star tenpin bowling tournament were John Batty (third), Justin Porthouse (second), Steven Clarke (fourth) and Matt Edwards (first).

THE first annual All-Star bowling tournament was held at the Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling and Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, December 13. 

Twenty-four of the best bowlers across all leagues were rounded up and played against each other across four separate games to see who would take out first prize – and bragging rights for best bowler this season.

Cash and prizes were up for grabs for the top four bowlers and highest scores across each round.

Nerves set in for the bowlers first round, but not for Toby. 

Toby snagged the highest score in round one with a total of 183 pins.

In the second round, the nerves settled, and everyone was starting to fire up with Valma Peterson and John Batty both reaching the highest score for round two with a total of 202 pins.

Steven Clarke stole the show in the third round with a whopping 214 pins.

The energy was flowing in the fourth and final round, and the boys weren’t mucking around, finishing the night with a bang,

First prize winner Matt Edwards started off his last game with eight strikes in his first nine frames with an amazing score of 250 pins.

Matt finished up averaging 204.25 over the four games with his total score finishing on 817 pins – a whopping 132 pins ahead of second place.

He was crowned the winner for the first All- Star bowling tournament.

Second place winner Justin Porthouse wasn’t too happy with how he started his first games, but brought it home in his last two games finishing with a total of 685 pins.

Third place was awarded to John Batty who scored a total of 678 pins.

Fourth place went to Steven Clarke, who finished on 672 pins.

It was a close game for the second, third and fourth place winners.
