LOCALS can mix with football royalty when AFL Hall of Fame Legend and Hawthorn premiership player Peter Hudson visits The Hare & Tortoise Books in Korumburra this Saturday, July 2.

Peter will be accompanied by local author Dan Eddy who has written an authorised biography about him, with Peter’s son Paul, also a premiership Hawk, joining the afternoon book event.

“It’s a huge thrill to be able to bring Peter and Paul Hudson to my home area,” Dan said.

“Paul coached Leongatha for a couple of years so they have a fondness for the area, and he later coached at Gippsland Power and Peter used to come and help him out.

“They’re both excited to be able to come down and meet the locals and talk about stories from Peter’s book.”

During the bookstore session, Dan will ask the Hudsons about their careers, and throughout the afternoon people can pose their own questions and have photos taken with Peter and Paul.

There is an opportunity to buy a copy of Dan’s book, ‘Peter Hudson, a Football Genius’ and have it signed.

The book details many people’s experiences of Peter.

“It’s told through the words of all those who lived Peter’s life story, whether childhood friends, teammates, people who knew him in Tasmania or at Hawthorn, opponents or umpires; everyone gets their voice in there to try and paint a picture of what it was like to be around Peter Hudson,” Dan said.
While there is a light-hearted side to the book, it tells an important story.

“I’ve added some humour in there where possible, but I also wanted to highlight how great he was,” Dan said, noting Peter averaged 5.64 goals per match for the Hawks.

Dan said while the Korumburra event is a great opportunity for everyone, it’s extra special for local kids to mix with a Hall of Fame Legend.

“The opportunity for kids to mingle with Peter and Paul can be an inspiring experience,” he said.

Other books Dan has written will also be on sale, with the chance to buy signed copies.

No RSVP is needed to attend the informal event, which starts at 3pm.
