‘Garbage’ start to the new year for Carinya Aged Care

FIRST it was a car into a pool at Inverloch last week, now a garbage truck has accidentally taken out part of Carinya Aged Care and Retirement Living’s new front entrance this week.

It is believed the driver had misjudged the height of the front entrance and the vehicle during the early hours of Friday morning, with the crash causing significant damage to part of the structure.

The front entrance, which connects to the administrative area, was newly built and just weeks away from being officially finished as part of a huge project to upgrade the aged care facility.

The aged care provider, based in Korumburra, is now concerned the entrance may need to be replaced as some of the supporting steel beams have been damaged.

The building upgrades had also been long awaited as they were severely delayed due construction issues associated with the pandemic.

More to come.
