WONTHAGGI Medical Group have announced the closure of their Grantville Medical Centre with the last day of consulting on January 19.
The announcement is due to reduced numbers of GPs in the area - and in regional areas throughout Australia generally.
"We have had a lot of difficulty securing doctors to work out of the Grantville clinic, and without the GPs, a GP clinic cannot operate," the statement reads.
"We hope to accommodate any and all patients at our Newhaven, Inverloch and Wonthaggi locations."
The closure comes as clinics across the region struggle to fill vacancies.
"We are sad to have made this decision but sincerely thank the community for the support over the years.
"We hope to see your familiar faces at one of our other branches."
