INVERLOCH-KONGWAK travelled up the highway to Nar Nar Goon, looking to rewrite the history from last season when the Goon dismantled them in Round 18.
Unfortunately, though, despite going into Saturday’s contest on a 13 game winning streak, it wasn’t to be, and the Sea Eagles fell once again in the Goon after using the ball uncharacteristically poorly.
Hams slammed through the first major of the game and shortly after had his second after drawing a high free kick, as things looked promising for the visitors early.
After what was a scrappy opening quarter, the home side, kept goalless, trailled IK by 12 points.
The second term by contrast was clearly won by Nar Nar Goon scoring five goals to one to finish the half full of momentum.
Trailing by 13-points, IK kicked a great coast to coast goal after a Goon miss to start the third term, finished off by the classy Lachlan Scott.

With it all on the line and just one term left, both sides recharged and came out hard in the fourth as Brent Hughes kicked the first of the last from a long-range set shot.
Tex Marsham then extended the Goon lead to two goals, following a 50m penalty which took him within 15 metres of goal.
The Sea Eagles responded though as Tom Hams kicked a great coach’s goal from a tight angle to bring it back to one straight kick.
It simply wasn’t to be for Hams and his men though, as Boavida pushed the lead out once again with a great crumb and snap, and youngster Clancy Pope iced the game after receiving the ball directly from the centre bounce.
Nar Nar Goon capped off a famous and crucial win in the context of their season, becoming the first to defeat Inverloch-Kongwak in 2023, this time by 18 points.
As for IK, a win at the Goon continues to elude them, although the loss didn’t impact their spot on the ladder, still sitting outright first, they’ll look to get back on track in Bunyip this Saturday.
