FOR many, Christmas means presents, food and family.

For the parkrun community, it means an extra chance to scan that parkrun barcode.

It was a merry parkrun for the 125 athletes who walked, ran, and skipped their five kilometre on Christmas Day.

The Inverloch crew welcomed 25 first timers, including Ethan McCormack, Ian McCormack, Hamish Baker, Eric Norris and Ron Torres who completed their first ever parkrun.

The windy conditions made it a little tougher out on course, but that didn’t stop Tim Cotter, Janis Fischer, Claire Scott, Dimitri Van Oss, Marie Womersley and Yick Foong Lee racing their way to personal best times.

There were no major milestones at the Christmas event, but there are a few runners who are closing in on those important celebrations.

The event would not have been possible without the brilliant volunteers including Nathan Castle, Derek Couper, Kirk De Marchi, Chantell Hosking, Alycia Marotta, Daniel O’Connell, Jacqui O’Connell, Tony O’Connell, Sandra Scarfe and Debra Watchorn.

If you would like to volunteer at future events, head to the Inverloch parkrun website to check the roster.
