Libs and Nats hatch recovery plan for Lang Lang

As part of the Liberals and Nationals’ Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan, Lang Lang will receive $200,000 to boost local business confidence.

According to the Liberals and Nationals, Lang Lang continues to feel the pain that rolling COVID lockdowns and restrictions have had on the community.

After discussion with the local Lang Lang Business and Community Group, the funding will be prioritised for the delivery of a grass seating area on an old rail site near the town’s main street

The commitment is part of the Victorian Liberals and Nationals’ $30 million Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan, which will support local communities across the state to recover and rebuild.

The Local Shopping Strip Recovery Plan will help revitalise Victorian shopping strips with funding for projects including support for local activation events such as streets fairs, or improvements such as outdoor dining spaces, plantings, employing local mural artists and designers, and lighting and footpath upgrades.

Member for Gembrook and Candidate for Berwick, Brad Battin, said the funding would deliver a new open space for the community.

“The business association has told us what they need to bring people in and the Liberals and Nationals will commit to delivering it.”

Liberal Candidate for Bass, Aaron Brown, said Victoria’s smallest towns needed the support.

“This new outdoor space will be a welcoming spot to have a picnic, kick a footy, or have a break during a long car trip and will become a new place for residents to call their own.

The Nationals Candidate for Bass, Brett Tessari, said the recovery plan put power into the community’s hands.

“This is a project the Lang Lang community can be proud of, and a space that will suit the needs of locals.”
