The State Government’s Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) lighting upgrade program has now closed.

I am aware that over the past few years scammers have taken advantage of this legitimate program to gain personal details by posing as representatives of the state government and door knocking or pestering households with frequent calls resulting in much confusion.

With the program now closed, you can be assured that any calls or offers you receive offering to upgrade the lighting in your home are not legitimate and should be reported to Scamwatch at www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam.

Other energy saving programs are still available under the VEU including upgrading your shower head to a water-saving one. If you receive calls about this offer, you can be assured that any legitimate accredited provider would not claim to be from the state government and will happily provide you with the name of the business they are calling from. They will also not call you if your number is on the Do Not Call Register.

For more information on the programs available or to find a local accredited provider visit https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/for-households/victorian-energy-upgrades-for-households.
