THANKS for your article “Permaculture with Penelope” (Nov 28, page 37). It highlighted for me how important local food production and distribution is when confronting the cost-of-living and climate crises.
Instead of being wholly reliant on supermarket chains, there are plenty of local, community-based initiatives like Penelope’s permaculture workshops, not-for-profit food outlets like Grow Lightly in
Korumburra and the Wonthaggi Food Collective, and several community gardens in Bass Coast and South Gippsland that we can all take advantage of to make our lives more affordable and more sustainable, and to help our local community become more resilient.
