IT WAS a fabulous day for racing at Stony Creek on Tuesday, January 3 and the racing club had it all going on with fashions on the field, food trucks, kids’ activities including face painting and full fields on an eight-race card.
Highlights included Rock Melody’s all the way win in the Pink Roses Maiden Plate, holding off the red-hot favourite Star Magic.
And a much tighter go for honours in the third race when Oreo Twist ridden by Jake Noonan who held off Miss Russia ridden by Brian Higgins.
In the fourth race of the day, the South Gippsland Sentinel-Times Maiden Plate it was the easiest of wins for Makbeel ridden by Carleen Hefel who got out in front, avoided some of the trouble when one of the horses dropped back midfield and saluted by five lengths.
The day continued in that vein with a big happy holiday crowd in attendance for Stony Creek’s second meeting of the year.
The next Stony Creek meeting will be on Tuesday, January 31.
