SOUTH Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, Cr Nathan Hersey has been elected to the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) Board representing the Gippsland region.
The MAV is the legislated peak body for Victoria’s 79 local councils and the voice of local government in Victoria. Its role is to represent and advocate local government interests, build the capacity of councils and provide policy and strategic advice.
Mayor Hersey will join nine other Councillors from across Victoria and Cr David Clark who was re-elected as President.
The President and Board will serve a two-year term.
“I am honoured to have been elected to the Board of the Municipal Association of Victoria,” Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said.
“It is an exciting opportunity to be representing the Gippsland region and I look forward to working closely with my Gippsland colleagues to ensure that our concerns are heard and that our sometimes-unique position is considered in MAV decision making.
