MEENIYAN Dumbalk United was quick to seize the initiative, never allowing rival Demons Boolarra an opportunity to settle into the contest, with MDU prevailing by 31 points.
While the home side led by just eight points at quarter time, Boolarra coach Tony Giardina acknowledged his side was thoroughly outplayed from the beginning.
MDU coach, Nathan Allen led the way onfield, providing momentum for his side and said the current group’s first win together will foster greater confidence.
“Our back six held up, and we were then able to counterattack and convert our chances,” Allen declared, noting that Boolarra’s ability to run in numbers presented challenges for MDU’s defence, something the backmen handled well.

Another pleasing aspect of MDU’s performance was its ability to share the goal scoring workload, with five players booting a couple of majors each.
They were Shaye Walsh, Timothy Harris, Jayden Deas, Samual Wilson and Wayne Stewart.
All of those, bar Stewart, featured on MDU’s best players list, joining Fraser Kelly and coach Allen in earning that honour.
While the winning side finished with just one more scoring shot than Boolarra, MDU’s superior delivery to its forwards and greater accuracy saw it boot twice as many goals as the beaten side.
