Student Exhibitors McKenzie Cleland and Chantai May of Newhaven College attended the Career Allsorts Exhibition hosted by Independent Schools Victoria at The District Docklands.

IN response to research that highlights children start shaping their career aspirations from a young age, and in support of good practice in career education, Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) invited primary schools to participate in its inaugural Career Allsorts program.

Career Allsorts is designed to help students to think more broadly about careers, introduce them to a range of career models and challenge any stereotypes they may have. Importantly, it aims to spark their curiosity and inspire career aspirations.

Through the use of art, Career Allsorts has provided students with an opportunity to think about and express how they perceive their future of work.

Newhaven College offers a comprehensive visual arts program, where students are encouraged to discover and develop their curiosity, creativity, and imagination through a variety of mediums and techniques.

Ten students from Newhaven College were selected to have their artwork exhibited at The District Docklands exhibition that opened on March 8, and will be available to the public until April 29.

Grade five students McKenzie Cleland and Chantai May attended the opening night of the exhibition to see their artwork on display.

“I felt happy seeing my artwork on display for everyone to see. I felt really proud of myself, and I loved seeing everyone’s ideas on display,” said McKenzie.

“It was cool travelling to the city to see our artwork at an exhibition. I loved seeing everyone’s designs, especially all my friend’s art on display.” Chantai said.
